Reviews
My wife and our baby girl lived in PLG for the last year (review dated September 2023). We had only moved to the US recently and PLG became our first home. I will say this, it’s not perfect but form my perspective all the negative comments I am reading on Google are very dramatic. The building offers a lot more than one can ever take advantage of or any person really ever could need.
We love the outdoor pool and the BBQ area for hot summer days. The basketball court is amazing , there is a good group of people in the building meeting up for playing some ball. The indoor pool and hot tub during the winter days are super! (Changing rooms could be cleaned more often, but nothing that really bothered me). The gym is very well equipped and basically removes the need for a gym subscription. There is a lot more to the building, like a game rooms and other things that we don’t take advantage of. Elevators have some wait times but never more than a minute.
At no point ever did we feel unsafe, neither in the neighborhood nor in the building. You see people leaving their front doors open while getting a package from the lobby, and so did we. We never worried about that something could happen.
Most importantly all the great people who run the building deserve a shoutout!
First, Imeh who is managing the rentals is incredibly forthcoming and helpful. You won’t find anyone more friendly or supportive!
Juan the super is a superstar! You log a ticket and the guys will come immediately to help you with whatever you need in your apartment.
And all folks at the front desk are great guys! Total luxury to never worry about packages and a total bonus if you don’t even have to say your apartment number when you get to the front desk cause the guys saw you coming and got your packages out already.
I visited this location to see friends and celebrate the holidays. I got to the fourth floor with an outdoor lounge and a great view of the streets below. The event was great and it's a nice spot fairly close to public transit.
Potential Renters Beware! I understand the importance of a healthy living environment, and my hope is that this review saves someone the frustration, stress, and anxiety of moving into PLG, a Mohnian-managed property.
Where do I begin? I'm new to Brooklyn and fell in love with the calm of the neighborhood and all the amenities this specific property has to offer. I decided to sign a lease at PLG in mid-December 2023 for what I thought was a luxury experience, but it quickly turned out to be extremely low budget! Aside from the concierges and Danielle in the office, management is not warm or welcoming by any means. I regret not reading reviews prior to making a decision to move here, but the remarks I am finding all over the internet about PLG validate what I am currently experiencing and my personal review.
First red flag: I was approved and provided all documents for a quick move, yet not one person welcomed me into the property, nor replied to emails for booking my move. I was forced blindly to move on my requested move-in date. If it weren't for the concierge making things happen for me, I would have been out of luck and the deposit I paid my movers.
Second red flag: Although I have been a renter for the last six weeks, I technically have only lived on the property for the last three weeks due to travel. As soon as I returned, I noticed a couple of things that were not in line and went to management requesting reasonable accommodations. Instead of management following the proper protocol and offering me an RA form, I was told I can’t make changes to my agreement, but they would look into it. I sent numerous emails and made phone calls for two weeks, and not once received an answer until I had to go back to the office and track someone down. I'm highly disappointed in the lack of professionalism, and the fact that management feels comfortable implying a lack of validity without having their 504 Coordinator look into my request. This is extremely dehumanizing, and their approach violates numerous fair housing and New York state laws, which is unacceptable!
Third red flag: The first week of my return, I received a call from the company's accountant regarding my billing account, which for weeks I have requested access to, but again, no one replies or follows through on anything here. Long story short, the $2,600 I paid at the time I submitted my application has not been accounted for despite the fact the money was taken out of my account. The accountant has zero recollection of our conversation upon my return, and now, three weeks later, there is still no answer and no resolution. Completely disorganized!
In addition:
- I can't wash my hair at home or take a long shower because the hot water only lasts 15-20 minutes, even after maintenance adjusted the water heater to the max settings.
- There’s an awful stench that comes from the bathroom/toilet at any given time of the day, and the only way for me to temporarily eliminate the smell is by pouring bleach in the toilet and using a plugin. In addition, black particles/liquid-like substances randomly swim in the bowl all the time.
- The smoke alarms must not work because I arrived on my floor to my entire hallway filled with smoke from food that someone overcooked.
- The building is not cost or energy efficient, as the in-unit washers and dryers take at a minimum 2 hours each to use.
No one deserves to pay rent at any cost, especially not in a luxury building and have this experience. Your home is a place of comfort and ease from the outside world, not a place of stress, headaches, and discomfort. Tenants should be prioritized, not made to feel like management is doing us a favor by living here, and it's extremely unacceptable as a tenant paying nearly $3k a month. I should be able to get these things resolved in a timely manner, but instead it’s like pulling teeth! Not only has this affected my peace of mind on top of other things, but it’s disrupted the new experience I was looking forward to having in a new city and neighborhood. Thanks alot! SMH
Danielle did a great job organizing the Jaura art gallery. Comfortable and warm atmosphere. Excellent use of the space. And super fun.
Living at PLG has been a safe and enjoyable experience so far. Danielle and Diego have created amazing events to foster a great community. The building staff and amenities are top tier. Happy to be here!
Living at Plg has been such a great experience, I have build a beautiful community and feel very safe here. I love thé Amenities staff, Danielle as Diego provide a great community atmosphere for us to enjoy.
I have been living here since September and I love it so far. It's the perfect building for a pandemic. A lot of light! If your apartment face South, you can sunrise and sunset everyday. Simply beautiful. There are communal areas where we can work. The outdoor spaces are great and the wiFi does even reach on roof! It's probably one of the most beautiful view of NYC. The amenities are awesome: grills, cinema room, basketball, golf simulator, gym, large private room,...
And last but not least, the staff is extremely nice. They are reliable, professional and go out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
I know that everyone doesn't have the same experience and I'm sorry for them. I'm personally satisfied and the best is yet to come !
We participated as a vendor at a recent rooftop farmers market. The building’s strong sense of community was definitely a bonus. Organizers, Diego and Danielle, designed a space where tenants could shop for fresh organic produce and home goods while building authentic relationships with fellow tenants. Keep up this positive energy of love for community. Life’s not perfect, but a rooftop market can definitely make it much easier.
I had the honor of vending at a recent indoor farmers market hosted by Danielle and Diego. The ambiance was warm, friendly, interactive, and well-organized; despite the rain, the community on 123 Linden came out, and I met with many …
